Lead Software Engineer – AI Platform

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive the development of an AI‑enabled consulting platform within its Business & Market Insights organization. The role combines hands‑on engineering with technical leadership to deliver secure, scalable, production‑ready AI services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of reusable AI services, integrations, workflows, and developer capabilities.
• Integrate large language models, AI services, agent frameworks, workflow engines, and knowledge‑base systems.
• Translate target‑state architecture into technical designs, delivery plans, and working solutions.
• Provide day‑to‑day technical direction, code reviews, and mentorship for junior engineers and vendor teams.
• Build APIs, event‑driven workflows, data pipelines, and user‑facing platform features.
• Collaborate with product, business, architecture, and engineering teams to refine requirements and deliver incremental value.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong hands‑on AI engineering background with experience on large‑scale data platforms.
• Proven ability to lead technical delivery, mentor engineers, and influence architecture without formal people‑management responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate across teams, locations, and vendors.

Required skills

• Experience with large language models, AI services, agent frameworks, workflow engines, and orchestration platforms.
• Familiarity with cloud and data technologies such as AWS EMR, Aurora, Databricks, and Snowflake.
• Solid foundations in software engineering, system design, distributed systems, and full‑stack or back‑end development.
• Knowledge of GenAI concepts, prompt design, retrieval‑augmented generation, and responsible AI practices.
