Lead Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join Mastercard’s Operations & Technology Fraud Products team in Dublin. You will drive the development of high‑performance, Java‑based solutions that power our Decision Management Platform, processing billions of transactions each month.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day development and maintenance activities, ensuring SLA compliance and rapid time‑to‑market.
• Own the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design to testing, release, and deployment.
• Collaborate with architects, product owners, and global development teams to deliver secure, scalable Java solutions.
• Apply best practices for automated testing, code quality, delivery, and monitoring.
• Mentor senior and junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and provide technical guidance.
• Investigate production incidents and feed learnings back into development.
• Participate in proofs of concept, evaluate vendor technologies, and lead brown‑bag sessions on emerging tools.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading software development teams in a high‑volume, low‑latency environment.
• Strong understanding of Java development, performance benchmarking, and secure coding practices.
• Excellent communication skills to work with cross‑functional and international stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor and guide engineers of varying seniority.
