Learning and Development Manager

About the role

The Learning and Development Manager leads the L&D department, ensuring all training, qualifications and competency frameworks meet statutory, regulatory and client requirements across Alternative Heat’s manufacturing, engineering and site operations. This senior role partners with senior leaders to close competency gaps, support succession planning and drive professional development aligned with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full compliance with legislation, safety standards, ISO requirements and industry certifications for the Construction and MEP sectors.
• Design, deliver and monitor structured learning programmes, skills development pathways and career progression frameworks for assigned business units.
• Identify competency gaps in collaboration with senior managers and implement targeted training solutions.
• Oversee the training team (Technical Trainer and two Training Administrators) to ensure effective programme delivery and audit readiness.
• Support off‑site fabrication, site installation, commissioning and support services through tailored training initiatives.
• Lead succession planning and talent development activities within the assigned areas.

Required profile

• Strong leadership capability with experience managing L&D functions in a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Proven expertise in compliance‑driven training and competency framework development.
• Ability to work across multiple business functions and influence senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO standards and industry certifications relevant to Construction and MEP sectors.
• Experience with compliance training and regulatory requirements.
