Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Regional and Urban Planning

About the role

The School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy at University College Dublin invites applications for a three‑year Lecturer/Assistant Professor position in Regional and Urban Planning. The role combines high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and graduate planning programmes with the development of an internationally recognised research profile.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials for accredited planning programmes.
• Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
• Develop and maintain an active research agenda aligned with contemporary planning challenges such as sustainability, housing equity, mobility and spatial governance.
• Contribute to curriculum development and academic service within the school.
• Engage with external partners and funding bodies to enhance the school’s research impact.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in Regional Planning, Urban Planning or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly publications in reputable journals.
• Experience in teaching at the university level, preferably in accredited planning programmes.
• Ability to attract research funding and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
