Logistics & Transport Manager

About the role
The Logistics & Transport Manager will lead and optimise our client’s logistics and transport operations across three locations in Ireland, Northern Ireland and the UK. You will ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective movement of raw materials and finished goods while maintaining high service standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage daily transport operations across three stock locations, including scheduling, routing and fleet utilisation to maximise fuel efficiency and minimise cost per load.
- Ensure accurate, on‑time deliveries aligned with customer requirements and project schedules.
- Maintain consistent processes and SOP adherence across the logistics function.
- Liaise with production, procurement and sales teams to align logistics with demand and optimise load weight and routing.
- Oversee inbound raw‑material deliveries to keep production stock levels stable.
- Support project‑based deliveries with tight scheduling, particularly in the construction sector.
- Handle delivery queries proactively, minimising delays and ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Manage relationships with third‑party transport providers, negotiate contracts and monitor performance.
- Ensure full compliance with transport regulations, health & safety standards and industry best practices.
- Track, analyse and optimise KPIs such as OTIF, cost per tonne delivered and stock‑location transfer costs.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years of experience in logistics or transport management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, engineering or related field (desirable but not essential).
- Proven record of delivering measurable cost savings and process improvements.
- Strong experience with inbound and outbound logistics of heavy or bulk materials (steel experience advantageous).
- Excellent communication skills at all organisational levels.
- Analytical, data‑driven decision‑making ability.
Required skills
- Experience with ERP systems.
- Proficiency in transport and logistics software (TMS/WMS).
- Strong knowledge of transport regulations, health & safety and compliance requirements.
