Materials Planner – Procurement & Inventory Specialist

About the role
The Materials Planner will join a manufacturing team in Galway, ensuring the timely procurement and availability of components needed for production. This tactical position monitors material flows, prevents shortages, and supports inventory targets to keep the plant running smoothly.
Key responsibilities
- Procure production, inventory and MRO items cost‑effectively and on schedule.
- Analyse requisitions, select approved suppliers and onboard new ones.
- Maintain up‑to‑date ABC classification and support the Plan for Every Part (PFEP) process.
- Manage inventory levels, safety stock and Kanban replenishment.
- Identify and resolve material shortages, quality issues and invoicing discrepancies.
- Coordinate with production planners, quality assurance and functional groups to meet delivery commitments.
- Track supplier performance, drive corrective actions and seek cost‑reduction opportunities.
- Maintain item master lead‑time data and provide accurate customer promise dates.
Required profile
- BA/BS degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years experience in manufacturing planning or buying.
- APICS CPIM certification or similar preferred.
- Strong knowledge of supply base, production scheduling and supplier processes.
