Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join its Dublin team. You will apply a strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to solve mechanical challenges, design custom tooling, and support the full product life‑cycle of advanced semiconductor and display equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design, development, qualification, and release of complex mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems for plasma diagnostic sensor products.
• Develop precision CNC‑machined metal parts for vacuum, semiconductor processing, and plasma‑exposed environments.
• Create engineering concepts, 3D models, detailed drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation.
• Perform tolerance stack‑up, thermal, material, and structural analyses.
• Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material‑science principles, thermodynamics, and Design for Excellence methodologies.
• Oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Coordinate procurement and assembly of mechanical components, identifying critical parts and resolving technical issues.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
• Solid understanding of physics, mathematics, and material properties.
• Experience with mechanical design for semiconductor or high‑precision equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
