Supervisor, Gold Room

About the role

Newmont's Lihir Operation, on the island of Niolam about 800 km north of Port Moresby, is one of the world's largest gold mines. As Supervisor Gold Room, you will take the lead on Gold Room operations, overseeing critical processing activities to deliver production targets while championing safety, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily Gold Room operations and drive performance by monitoring processes, identifying improvements and optimising workflow.
• Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and foster a strong safety culture, including routine safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Troubleshoot operational challenges and analyse process performance data to support continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate records of production, maintenance and safety performance, and take ownership of risk management.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams by raising and tracking plant defect notifications.

Required profile

• Qualification in Process Plant Operations, Metallurgy or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a Gold Room, metallurgical processing, mineral processing or gold extraction environment.
• Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience in a processing plant or mining environment.
• Strong understanding of Gold Room operations, gold recovery processes and associated equipment.
• Current driver's licence.

Required skills

• Knowledge of maintenance management processes, including raising work requests and identifying plant defects.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and mine site operational systems.
• Strong record-keeping, reporting and communication skills.

Working conditions

• FIFO role on a 21/21 roster.
• Onsite position at the Lihir mine.
