Mechanical Technician – Mining Operations

About the role

Newmont is seeking a Mechanical Technician to support its Lihir gold mining operation in Papua New Guinea. The role focuses on maintaining mechanical equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform mechanical inspections and identify potential issues before they impact operations.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment to minimise downtime and restore performance.
• Carry out maintenance activities safely and in line with site standards and procedures.
• Monitor equipment condition and performance to detect early signs of failure.
• Assist with calibration and testing of mechanical components and systems.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment histories, and work documentation.
• Support spare‑parts management by tracking critical component usage and availability.
• Identify and report mechanical defects, risks, and improvement opportunities.
