Medical Surgical Nurse – Ireland

About the role

The Medical Surgical Nurse will deliver high‑quality nursing care across a range of clinical settings within Medcare Hospital in Ireland. Working under the supervision of the Head Nurse or Duty Manager, the role involves direct patient care on various shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care using the Nursing Process in general, critical care, operating rooms, labor & delivery, emergency, and clinic units.
• Conduct systematic initial and ongoing assessments of patients' physical and psychosocial status.
• Identify educational and discharge planning needs for patients and families.
• Develop, update, and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Maintain infection control, safety standards, and participate in fire, disaster drills, and mock codes.
• Document care activities accurately and use computer systems as required.
• Contribute to quality improvement programs and policy reviews.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with relevant qualification and licensure.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• Experience in medical‑surgical settings, including critical care or emergency environments.
• Ability to work any shift, including on‑call duties.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy for documentation and reporting.
