Packaging Design Engineer (Cork)

About the role
This design‑focused engineering position supports the development of bespoke protective and transit packaging solutions for a well‑established industrial packaging company. The role also involves cost estimation, materials planning, and occasional office support during quieter periods.
Key responsibilities
- Design custom packaging solutions using CAD software
- Produce drawings, layouts, and comprehensive design documentation
- Support CAD‑based cost estimation activities
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Liaise with production, purchasing, and commercial teams to ensure seamless project delivery
- Provide general office support, such as purchasing assistance, when required
Required profile
- 2‑3 years of experience in design engineering or a related field
- Strong CAD skills with a proven track record of delivering design projects
- Practical, adaptable, and comfortable working in an SME environment
- Willingness to take on varied responsibilities beyond pure design work
