Packaging Engineer – End of Line

About the role
The Packaging Engineer – End of Line is responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and high‑performing packaging solutions. You will lead the implementation of end‑of‑line equipment, ensuring it meets project timelines, quality standards, and engineering requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Own engineering delivery of end‑of‑line packaging equipment such as conveyors, checkweighers, vision inspection systems, labellers, case packers, palletisers, stretch wrappers and AGV interfaces.
- Coordinate installation, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), performance verification and production start‑up.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment issues while driving improvements to achieve target Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, EHS, Supply Chain, OEMs and EPCM partners to ensure seamless project execution.
- Support CAPEX projects through equipment selection, supplier evaluation, technical reviews, risk assessments and engineering change management.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, GMP, HACCP, hygienic design and Safety by Design.
- Prepare and maintain SOPs, maintenance plans, spare‑parts strategies, training materials and handover documentation.
- Monitor project progress, communicate risks and mitigation actions, and provide regular stakeholder updates.
- Identify continuous‑improvement opportunities to enhance line performance, reliability, safety and efficiency.
Required profile
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum three years of engineering experience in food, beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical or nutrition manufacturing.
- Proven experience delivering CAPEX projects involving equipment installation, commissioning and qualification.
- Strong understanding of end‑of‑line packaging technologies, automated systems and engineering documentation.
- Experience working with OEMs, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
Required skills
- Conveyors, checkweighers, vision inspection systems, labellers, case packers, palletisers, stretch wrappers, AGV interfaces.
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
- Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ) and Performance Qualification (PQ).
- PLC and SCADA programming and troubleshooting.
- Engineering documentation creation and maintenance.
