Permanent Lecturer in Human Muscle Physiology (1 FTE)

About the role
The University of Galway invites applications for a permanent Lecturer in Physiology with a focus on human muscle physiology, metabolism and integrative physiology. The successful candidate will join a vibrant academic community, contributing to teaching, research and academic leadership across undergraduate and postgraduate health and biomedical programmes.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver physiology teaching for Medicine, allied health, Science, Pharmacy and MSc programmes.
- Establish an internationally recognised research programme in muscle physiology, metabolism or integrative physiology.
- Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD students.
- Participate in curriculum development and academic service within the Discipline of Physiology.
- Collaborate with clinical and translational research partners.
Required profile
- PhD in Physiology or a closely related biomedical science discipline.
- Experience teaching physiology to diverse third‑level student cohorts.
- Evidence of research excellence appropriate to career stage (publications, grant funding, international recognition).
- Strong background in data analysis applied to muscle physiology, metabolism or integrative physiology.
- Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills.
