Principal Engineer – Edge Compute & Computer Vision

About the role

We are looking for a Principal Engineer specializing in Edge Compute and Computer Vision to join our client’s team in Galway. This full‑time, hybrid position (minimum three days onsite) offers relocation support for exceptional candidates and focuses on building real‑time AI systems where latency, reliability and performance are critical.

Key responsibilities

• Design multi‑camera geometry, calibration and synchronisation systems.
• Build probabilistic multi‑object tracking and spatiotemporal reasoning models.
• Develop highly optimised C++ code for real‑time, resource‑constrained environments.
• Optimise GPU‑accelerated inference pipelines for low latency and high throughput.
• Take research prototypes to hardened, production‑grade edge deployments.
• Define testing, validation, telemetry and rollout strategies.
• Set technical standards and mentor engineers through code reviews and pairing.

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in computer vision, robotics, embedded systems or a related field.
• Strong C++ expertise in performance‑critical systems.
• Deep understanding of geometry, linear algebra, optimisation and estimation.
• Experience with GPU optimisation and production AI deployment.
• Proven track record of shipping real‑world vision systems.
