Principal Oracle Platform Engineer

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a visionary Principal Oracle Platform Engineer to lead the architectural evolution of its data platforms. You will define blueprints for mission‑critical Oracle infrastructure, ensuring maximum availability, scalability, and performance while staying hands‑on with the most complex engineering challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and road‑mapping of Oracle database platforms, focusing on Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) for zero‑data‑loss.
• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert for Oracle Exadata, optimizing the stack from storage cells to database instances.
• Design and implement robust Data Guard and Fast‑Start Failover (FSFO) configurations to meet strict RTO/RPO targets.
• Architect complex GoldenGate replication topologies, including GoldenGate Microservices for real‑time data integration.
• Drive Oracle Multitenant strategy, guiding Pluggable Database (PDB) and Container Database (CDB) design and isolation.
• Act as the final escalation point for deep‑dive performance tuning using SQL optimisation, ASH/AWR analysis, and Exadata‑specific features such as Smart Scans and Storage Indexing.
• Contribute to hybrid‑cloud evolution by designing polyglot persistence layers that integrate Oracle with open‑source and cloud‑native technologies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Oracle 19c/23c, especially within Exadata environments.
• Proven track record designing and operating GoldenGate (Classic and Microservices) for high‑volume, low‑latency replication.
• Deep knowledge of Oracle High Availability solutions, including Data Guard, FSFO, and Multitenant architecture.
• Strong analytical skills for performance engineering, including SQL tuning and use of ASH/AWR reports.
• Ability to lead architectural discussions and translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
