Procurement Category Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Category Manager to lead the strategy and execution of capital equipment and related services within a complex engineering and construction environment. The role sits close to delivery teams and partners with engineering, estimation and operations to drive commercial outcomes across major capital investment programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement category strategies for both Capex and Opex, improving total cost of ownership.
• Lead sourcing, tendering and contract negotiations for high‑value spend.
• Own key supplier relationships, moving them beyond transactional engagement.
• Provide market insight, cost benchmarking and supply intelligence to delivery teams.
• Build structured supplier performance frameworks and drive continuous improvement.
• Identify and mitigate supply‑chain risks across multiple sites.
• Support procurement transformation and process‑improvement initiatives.
• Engage senior stakeholders with clear, data‑led insight.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing procurement categories in construction, engineering or capital projects.
• Track record of negotiating complex, high‑value contracts.
• Strong commercial judgement with a focus on cost optimisation.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and support project delivery.
• Structured approach to sourcing, supplier management and risk.
• Comfort operating across multiple projects and priorities.
• Legally able to work in Ireland without sponsorship and able to travel across Europe on short notice.
