Professional Support Lawyer – Finance & Capital Markets

About the role

Matheson is seeking a Professional Support Lawyer to join its Finance and Capital Markets (FCM) team. The role is designed for an experienced banking and finance lawyer who is keen to shape the firm’s Knowledge Management function and explore innovative digital solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the FCM Knowledge Management function, ensuring up‑to‑date legal content.
• Monitor legislative and case‑law developments, preparing concise updates and insights for internal teams and clients.
• Provide technical expertise, conduct research, and deliver training on legal topics.
• Update precedents, practice notes, and other internal knowledge materials.
• Collaborate on the design and delivery of value‑add services, including AI‑driven and digital products.
• Participate in submissions to government and regulatory bodies and support industry working groups.

Required profile

• Qualified banking and finance lawyer with experience in a leading practice.
• Strong interest in AI, digital solutions and the use of digital platforms for legal content.
• Excellent written communication, analytical thinking and thought‑leadership abilities.
• Detail‑oriented drafting and research skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
