Professional Support Lawyer

About the role

Matheson is seeking a Professional Support Lawyer to join its Finance and Capital Markets (FCM) department. The role can be full‑time or part‑time and operates within a hybrid working model, allowing flexibility while collaborating closely with partners and the Head of Knowledge Management.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage the firm’s Knowledge Management function for the FCM team.
• Monitor legislative and case‑law developments, preparing updates and insights for internal teams and clients.
• Provide technical expertise, conduct legal research, and deliver training on new legal developments.
• Update precedents, practice notes, and other internal knowledge materials.
• Design and deliver innovative, value‑add services to clients, including AI‑driven and digital solutions.
• Participate in submissions to government and regulatory bodies and engage in industry working groups.

Required profile

• Qualified banking and finance lawyer with experience in a market‑leading practice.
• Strong interest in AI, digital solutions, and the use of digital platforms for legal content.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a creative and analytical mindset.
• Detail‑oriented drafting and research abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
