Professor and Deputy Principal – CDIC

About the role

The University College Dublin invites applications for a permanent full‑time Professor who will also act as Deputy Principal of the Chang’an‑Dublin International College of Transportation (CDIC) for the first five years. The post is attached to one of UCD’s Schools – Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy, Civil Engineering or Mechanical and Materials Engineering – and combines research, teaching and senior administrative duties.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research and teaching programmes within the host school.
• Serve as Deputy Principal of CDIC, reporting to the Principal CDIC.
• Coordinate academic activities between Dublin and the CDIC campus in Xi’an.
• Allocate and supervise a funded PhD student, including travel arrangements.
• Contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance for CDIC programmes.
• Participate in departmental and college committees as required.

Required profile

• Established academic with a PhD in a relevant engineering, planning or architecture discipline.
• Proven record of high‑quality research and teaching at senior level.
• Experience in international collaboration and academic administration.
• Willingness to spend scheduled periods each semester at CDIC in Xi’an.
• Ability to manage a research team and supervise postgraduate students.

• Salary on the 95 Professor scale (€106,611‑€142,500 per annum).
