The School of History and Geography at Dublin City University seeks a distinguished scholar to lead research and teaching in Early Modern Irish History. This senior academic position offers the opportunity to shape the future direction of the department and contribute to the university’s research reputation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pioneering, internationally recognised research in Early Modern Irish History and publish in high‑quality peer‑reviewed venues.
• Secure research funding, lead research projects and supervise postgraduate and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and taught postgraduate modules, including both survey and research‑led courses.
• Contribute to curriculum development and the administration of key history programmes.
• Engage with external partners, disseminate research findings and enhance the department’s impact.
• Provide leadership within the School, Faculty and University, supporting collective governance and strategic initiatives.

Required profile

• Internationally recognised academic with a strong publication record in Early Modern Irish History.
• Demonstrated ability to attract and manage research funding and supervise research students.
• Experience in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Proven leadership, innovation and management experience in a university setting.
• Commitment to delivering a transformative student experience.
