Project Manager I – Labs

About the role

Thermo Fisher Scientific is expanding its laboratory services in Athlone and is looking for a Project Manager I to provide tactical support for client‑facing projects. The role will coordinate the receipt, logging and workflow of samples and standards, ensuring smooth laboratory analysis and timely project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Act as primary coordinator for receipt and log‑in of samples and standards.
• Manage shipment requests, sample check‑outs, relogging and disposal activities.
• Track project progress, provide status updates to internal and client teams, and initiate project set‑up processes.
• Maintain reagent documentation, including Certificates of Analysis and Safety Data Sheets.
• Coordinate internal lab‑based projects such as facility audits and incident reports.
• Communicate with clients regarding sample and standard processes and support the client relationship manager with daily progress updates.
• Monitor timelines, identify and escalate risks to ensure successful project completion.
• Attend internal meetings and contribute to project planning.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal experience in laboratory or project coordination.
• Experience managing sample workflows, shipments, and documentation in a regulated environment.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills for client interaction and internal coordination.
