Purchasing Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead end‑to‑end procurement for our Kells‑based construction and engineering business. The role ensures that materials, plant, equipment and services flow smoothly to support production and project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the entire purchasing process from requisition to delivery.
• Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best price and payment terms, leveraging bulk buying.
• Develop and implement a purchasing strategy that aligns with all business areas.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
• Manage delivery of goods, ensuring quality and compliance.
• Monitor stock levels with the Stores Manager to maintain minimum inventory thresholds.
• Collaborate with Sales and Production teams to guarantee availability of required items.
• Analyse market trends for product substitution, availability, and pricing.
• Provide regular reporting on procurement KPIs to senior management.

Required profile

• Proven experience in purchasing or procurement within manufacturing, construction, or engineering environments.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Commercial awareness and data analysis skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with sales and production teams.
• Capability to meet results under occasional tight deadlines.
• Experience with procurement operating systems.
• Degree or certification in purchasing is advantageous.
