Relief Nurse – Daycare Centre (Cork)

About the role

Respond is seeking a qualified Relief Nurse to provide coverage during holidays, sick leave and professional development days for the sole nurse in our nurse‑led daycare centre. The role ensures continuity of high‑quality care for older adults attending the centre, which operates Monday to Friday, 09:00‑17:30.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individualized nursing care using the Primary Nursing approach.
• Conduct pre‑admission assessments and develop care plans for service users.
• Supervise and support other staff and volunteers in delivering care.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to maintain excellent standards of care.
• Communicate effectively with families and carers to reduce anxiety and promote positive outcomes.
• Manage the centre’s waiting list, allocate places fairly, and maintain accurate records.
• Oversee stock levels, duty rosters and ensure appropriate skill mix.

Required profile

• Registered nurse with current registration in Ireland.
• Experience in community or day‑care nursing, preferably with older adults.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to varying shift patterns.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
