Road Surface Technology Apprenticeship – Supervision

About the role

This apprenticeship offers hands‑on experience with one of Ireland’s leading road surfacing contractors. You will work alongside seasoned professionals while completing the SOLAS and TUS Midlands Road Surfacing Technology apprenticeship programme.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with pre‑start site visits, planning and job preparation.
• Coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
• Order asphalt and other required materials.
• Supervise surfacing crews on site, ensuring safety and quality.
• Carry out quality inspections and verify compliance with specifications.
• Monitor productivity, programme performance and GPS measurements of completed works.
• Liaise with clients, local authorities and contract managers.
• Prepare site records, documentation and submit measurements for payment processing.
• Attend apprenticeship training and fulfil all academic requirements.

• Interest in construction, engineering or road surfacing.
• Full driving licence (or working towards one) is advantageous.

Required skills

• Basic IT proficiency.
