Senior Accounting Consultant / Technical Controller

About the role

This senior position supports a fast‑growing organisation in Ireland by providing technical accounting expertise, audit readiness, and financial‑control leadership. The role focuses on high‑impact, strategic accounting work rather than routine transaction processing.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the subject‑matter expert for US GAAP compliance, advising on complex accounting transactions.
• Lead lease accounting activities, including Right‑of‑Use asset and liability management, contract assessments and modifications (ASC 842).
• Oversee fixed‑asset accounting, covering capitalization policies, lifecycle management, impairment assessments and disposals.
• Strengthen month‑end close by improving accrual methods, cut‑off controls and reporting accuracy.
• Develop and maintain robust balance‑sheet reconciliation processes and account ownership frameworks.
• Prepare audit schedules, technical accounting documentation and supporting reports for external audits.
• Partner on accounting system migration projects, documenting workflows, identifying control gaps and ensuring technical requirements are met.
• Evaluate financial risks, investigate discrepancies and enhance internal controls to mitigate fraud.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align operational accounting with strategic financial governance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• CPA, CIA or equivalent professional certification strongly preferred.
• Proven senior‑level experience as an Accountant, Auditor, Assistant Controller or similar.
• Deep expertise in US GAAP, including hands‑on ASC 842 lease accounting and complex capitalization.
