Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Gong is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to drive the design and delivery of high‑performance, scalable services that power its Revenue AI Operating System. You will work with a fast‑moving team, shaping core backend architecture and collaborating across product, frontend and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of complex, scalable backend services and APIs.
• Own end‑to‑end feature lifecycles, coordinating delivery with backend, frontend and product teams.
• Define and enforce engineering standards, including code quality, testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyze and debug intricate technical issues to ensure long‑term system reliability.
• Manage cross‑functional dependencies and mitigate risks for seamless feature rollout.
• Identify and resolve scalability bottlenecks, implementing high‑performance solutions.
• Build foundational components that improve overall system stability and speed.
• Elevate operational excellence through robust CI/CD and quality processes.
• Shape strategic delivery of major initiatives, balancing technical excellence with business milestones.

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on experience in large‑scale backend development.
• Deep expertise in Java programming.
• Proven track record of mentoring engineers.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Experience delivering complex, high‑throughput services.
