Senior Bioanalytical Scientist – Mass Spectrometry

About the role

Walker Cole is seeking a Senior Bioanalytical Scientist with deep expertise in liquid chromatography‑mass spectrometry (LC‑MS) to support a leading pharmaceutical process research organisation. You will work on a diverse portfolio of biologics, including monoclonal antibodies, antibody‑drug conjugates, gene therapies and vaccines, collaborating closely with process development and analytical teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop LC‑MS methods for intact mass, subunit analysis and peptide‑mapping of biologics.
• Build targeted LC‑MS/MS assays for quantifying proteins, peptides and biomarkers.
• Design and optimise sample‑preparation workflows such as enzymatic digestion, solid‑phase extraction and immunocapture.
• Perform data analysis using HRMS tools (MassHunter, BioConfirm, Skyline) for PTM identification and deconvolution.
• Troubleshoot analytical issues and maintain QTOF and triple‑quadrupole platforms in line with GxP expectations.
• Author SOPs, method development reports and validation documentation following ICH Q2(R2) guidelines.
• Support and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience with top‑down, middle‑down and bottom‑up MS workflows.
• Strong background in post‑translational modification (PTM) analysis, including glycosylation, oxidation, deamidation and phosphorylation.
• Experience with Agilent QTOF systems and MassHunter/BioConfirm is advantageous.
• Knowledge of metabolomics, lipidomics or spent‑media analysis is a plus.
