Senior Java Engineer – Risk Technology

About the role

Our client, a leading bank, is expanding its Risk Technology team in Dublin. As a Senior Java Engineer you will design and build modern web applications and APIs that enable critical risk‑management capabilities across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust Java‑based web applications and RESTful APIs.
• Collaborate with business analysts, product owners and other engineers to translate complex requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Implement and evolve micro‑services and distributed systems using containerised environments.
• Write clean, testable code and maintain comprehensive unit and integration test suites.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions and continuous‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience in core Java development.
• Proficiency with the modern Java ecosystem, especially Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience building enterprise‑grade backend services and RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL query optimisation.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Ability to produce unit and integration tests following test‑driven development principles.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
