Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Data Centre Projects

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering and construction firm in Dublin. You will be responsible for delivering complex, large‑scale data‑centre and mission‑critical projects from concept through to commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design function on major data‑centre and mission‑critical projects.
• Coordinate design consultants and specialist subcontractors.
• Review and validate mechanical designs, calculations and technical submissions.
• Drive value engineering and design improvements.
• Support procurement and equipment selection.
• Work closely with commissioning teams to ensure successful testing and handover.
• Manage BIM and multidisciplinary design activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and develop the wider engineering team.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mechanical building services design for data‑centres, mission‑critical, pharmaceutical or industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and mechanical building systems.
• Proven ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design teams.
• Collaborative approach with excellent communication skills.
