Senior Python Software Engineer – Financial Services

About the role

Our client, a leading financial services firm in Ireland, is looking for a Senior Python Software Engineer to lead complex technical initiatives and deliver scalable, secure, high‑quality solutions across backend, frontend and cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver complex software solutions spanning backend, frontend and cloud‑based systems.
• Drive architectural improvements to boost scalability, resilience and performance.
• Investigate critical incidents, lead root‑cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Collaborate across teams to resolve challenging technical issues.
• Mentor engineers on coding standards, problem‑solving and professional development.
• Participate in technical design reviews and guide long‑term engineering decisions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, tools and frameworks to enhance delivery efficiency.
• Partner with product, design, QA and operations to ensure end‑to‑end feature delivery.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Influence improvements in tooling, deployment practices and engineering standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 + years of software engineering experience, including senior or lead roles.
• Strong backend development expertise with Python and modern frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django).
• Proven experience building APIs, data models and scalable distributed systems.
• Frontend development experience with React and TypeScript.
• Experience designing and deploying cloud‑native or serverless applications on AWS.
• Hands‑on experience delivering CI/CD pipelines and supporting cloud infrastructure.
• Demonstrated ability to design secure, maintainable, high‑performing architectures.
• Track record of leading technical initiatives and delivering cross‑functional outcomes.
