Senior Software Development Engineer – Aurora Control Plane

About the role

Join the Aurora Developer Experience team at Amazon Web Services and help shape the next generation of hyper‑scale cloud database services. You will work on the control plane that powers Aurora, a fault‑tolerant, high‑performance relational database built for the cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and own critical system software components for Aurora’s control plane.
• Architect highly scalable, distributed database services that meet strict availability, reliability, and performance guarantees.
• Build rock‑solid production code and mentor junior engineers.
• Collaborate across teams to drive product innovations and improve the developer experience at massive scale.
• Communicate technical decisions clearly to both engineering and non‑technical stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience building and shipping software products in a cloud environment.
• Passion for optimizing the software development experience at large scale.
• Strong motivation to solve hard technical challenges and stay current with industry trends.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and customer‑focus skills.
