Senior Software Engineer – Custom Applications

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Custom Software Engineer to join a high‑performing software engineering team delivering enterprise‑scale solutions for the financial services sector in Dublin. The role involves designing, developing and enhancing custom applications using modern Java frameworks while collaborating with cross‑functional technical and business teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and maintain custom software applications and system components.
• Build scalable, high‑performance solutions aligned with business requirements.
• Develop and enhance backend services and APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support delivery objectives and technical initiatives.
• Take ownership of technical decisions and contribute to solution architecture discussions.
• Analyse complex technical challenges and implement effective solutions.
• Support and mentor team members by sharing technical knowledge and best practices.
• Engage with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes, standards and delivery practices.
• Work within agile delivery methodologies and engineering best practices.

Required profile

• Advanced proficiency in Java development and strong experience with Spring Boot.
• Proven track record delivering scalable enterprise applications in a financial services environment.
• Solid understanding of application architecture, system integration and RESTful API design.
• Ability to troubleshoot, optimise and improve application performance.
• Experience working in Agile teams and strong communication with stakeholders.
• Willingness to mentor or lead technical team members.
