Senior Software Engineer

About the role

We are partnering with a global organisation that is undergoing an AI‑first transformation of its payment and financial technology platforms. As a Senior Software Engineer you will combine deep engineering expertise with AI‑assisted delivery to create the next generation of event‑driven, cloud‑native payment services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable microservices and event‑driven systems powering modern digital payment experiences.
• Collaborate with product, architecture and data teams to embed AI and machine‑learning capabilities into workflows.
• Lead the modernisation of legacy systems using domain‑driven design and incremental transformation approaches.
• Enable AI‑assisted operations through strong observability, telemetry and automation.
• Drive engineering best practices around testing, resilience and system reliability.
• Improve developer experience via CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code and AI‑enabled tooling.
• Mentor engineers on AI‑first development practices and responsible use of emerging tools.
• Balance innovation with delivery, making pragmatic technical decisions.

Required profile

• Strong experience building software in complex, distributed environments.
• Expert‑level Java proficiency with modern frameworks and tooling.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS or similar cloud platforms and Kubernetes.
• Solid understanding of event‑driven architecture and streaming platforms such as Kafka.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps and observability tooling.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted engineering tools (e.g., Copilot) or ML/LLM‑based systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across technical and non‑technical teams.
