Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Vectra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain large‑scale distributed systems that power its AI‑driven threat detection platform. You will work closely with Data Engineering and Data Science teams to optimise data flows and create new pipelines that support a growing portfolio of security products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test, and maintain high‑performance distributed services for real‑time analytics.
• Design and implement data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) pipelines for large data sets.
• Collaborate with product, UX, security research, and data science groups to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Identify and resolve data‑related performance issues and propose optimisation strategies.
• Leverage emerging big‑data technologies and cloud platforms to ensure scalable, reliable infrastructure.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional software development experience.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn new technologies and challenge assumptions.
• Degree in Computer Science (B.S., M.S., or Ph.D.) or equivalent experience.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Rust programming (experience preferred).
• Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Deployment of distributed services on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Kafka, and NATS.
• Familiarity with data storage formats such as Parquet, Avro, and Arrow.
• Version control and issue tracking tools (Git, Jira).
