Senior Traffic Management Designer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Traffic Management Designer to join GMC’s Traffic Management department. The role involves designing, planning and delivering traffic management and engineering solutions for a variety of infrastructure and utility projects across Ireland.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare traffic management layouts, temporary traffic management plans and permanent design drawings.
• Develop designs in line with Irish standards, including the Traffic Signs Manual.
• Produce detailed CAD drawings, sketches and construction‑ready documentation.
• Assist with traffic impact assessments and design reviews.
• Liaise with project managers, site teams, local authorities and clients.
• Ensure designs comply with health & safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Provide technical input during project planning and construction phases.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in traffic design or traffic engineering.
• Proven experience with AutoCAD (essential) and Civil 3D (advantageous).
• Working knowledge of Irish traffic and road design standards.
• Experience delivering temporary traffic management on live construction sites.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Full driving licence.
