Site Engineer

About the role

BAM is looking for a Site Engineer to join its Galway team, delivering sustainable infrastructure and community projects. You will act as the technical bridge between design documents and on‑site execution, ensuring that works are set out accurately and carried out safely.

Key responsibilities

• Set out works and communicate details to foremen, operatives and subcontractors.
• Review drawings, specifications and technical submissions to confirm scope.
• Conduct material testing, especially rebar and concrete, and record results.
• Prepare and oversee technical method statements and traffic‑management plans.
• Direct subcontractors where required and monitor setting‑out instruments.
• Maintain a daily site diary documenting activities and incidents.
• Participate in safety reporting and promote a safe working environment.

Required profile

• Third‑level qualification in Engineering.
• Proven experience as a Site Engineer or in setting‑out on construction sites.
• Experience with main contractors, subcontractors or surveying firms preferred.
• Familiarity with health, safety and environmental regulations.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
