Software Development Engineer (Open‑Source)

About the role

Join the AWS Lambda Runtimes team in Dublin and help shape the serverless experience for millions of customers worldwide. You will work on the core runtime implementations that support multiple programming languages, ensuring they are secure, performant, and aligned with upstream open‑source projects.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain runtime components for languages such as Python, Node.js, Java.NET, Ruby, Go, and Rust.
• Collaborate with upstream open‑source communities to integrate language advancements and security patches.
• Debug, profile, and optimise runtime performance at massive scale.
• Contribute to documentation, tooling, and libraries that enable developers to run code efficiently on Lambda.
• Participate in code reviews, mentorship, and knowledge‑sharing within the team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least three years of professional software development experience.
• Proven contributions to established open‑source projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
