Software Development Engineer – Simple Email Service

About the role

Amazon is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join the Simple Email Service (SES) team. You will help shape the future of email communication for millions of customers by building reliable, scalable backend and customer‑facing systems.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain core SES services that handle high‑volume email traffic.
• Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and customers to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and performance of the email platform.
• Participate in on‑call rotations, troubleshoot incidents, and drive root‑cause remediation.
• Contribute to strategic planning and the long‑term roadmap of the service.

Required profile

• Strong problem‑solving abilities and a passion for building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Experience working in a fast‑paced, collaborative engineering environment.
• Willingness to take ownership of services, including on‑call responsibilities.
• Ability to mentor peers and share knowledge across the team.

Required skills

• AWS (Amazon Web Services) platform experience.
