Software Engineer I

About the role

Toast is looking for a Software Engineer I to join its International UK team. You will help create best‑in‑class product experiences for restaurants and local businesses, working closely with design, product and customer teams. This role offers the chance to build software that scales from millions to hundreds of millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and deploy product features that are used daily by UK customers.
• Write clean, maintainable, well‑tested code for both backend and frontend applications.
• Collaborate with engineering, product and design to plan, implement and iterate on features.
• Take ownership of feature delivery from design through testing, deployment and post‑release improvements.

Required profile

• Proficiency in Java, Kotlin or another object‑oriented language with strong testing and quality practices.
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue and TypeScript.
• Agile mindset focused on delivering usable software.
• Passion for continuous learning and building impactful software products.
