Software Engineer, Web Application

About the role

Iambic Therapeutics is building a secure, cloud‑based platform for AI‑driven drug discovery. The Software Engineer, Web Application will own and evolve the primary web interface used by scientists, delivering end‑to‑end features that are both usable for non‑engineers and secure for sensitive scientific data.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain a Python web application, including server‑rendered UIs (HTMX) and FastAPI route handlers.
• Develop and refine the underlying service layer while keeping the HTTP layer a thin contract.
• Collaborate with chemists and biologists to translate domain requirements into functional interfaces.
• Implement robust authorization, access scoping, and clear error handling for sensitive data.
• Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and documentation.

Required profile

• Strong full‑stack engineering experience with production‑grade Python.
• Proven track record building and operating SaaS‑style or production web applications.
• Comfort with HTTP API design and backend services such as FastAPI.
• Experience with relational databases and data‑intensive workflows.
• Ability to work closely with scientific users and iterate on feedback.
• Awareness of web security fundamentals (authn/authz, session handling).
• Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD is a plus.
• Excellent written communication and experience in distributed teams.
