Staff Nurse – Pre Assessment Clinic (Altra Foirne)

About the role

The Staff Nurse (Altra Foirne) will work in the Pre‑Assessment Clinic at Mayo University Hospital, delivering nursing care to patients prior to their surgical procedures. This permanent, full‑time position is part of the peri‑operative directorate and reports to the Clinical Nurse Managers for the Pre‑assessment and Peri‑operative services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing assessment and care to patients attending the Pre‑Assessment Clinic.
• Collaborate with the peri‑operative team to ensure patients are prepared for surgery.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to hospital policies and Department of Health guidelines.
• Participate in the e‑learning programme that supports the HSE recruitment journey.

Required profile

• Relevant nursing qualification and registration.
• Recognised service experience in Ireland or abroad, eligible for incremental credit under Department of Health Circular 2/2011.
• Ability to start at the minimum point of the salary scale and progress through incremental credit.
