Staff Nurse – Riverview Intellectual Disability Service

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to join the newly opened Riverview Intellectual Disability Service. The role involves delivering high‑quality nursing care to residents with intellectual disabilities, supporting their health and wellbeing, and working closely with families and a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to the efficient running of the nursing home and create a supportive atmosphere for residents.
• Report any ill health, arrange GP or professional visits, and ensure timely medical interventions.
• Develop, maintain and regularly review individualised Care Plans in line with An Bord Altranais guidelines.
• Assess and address the health and social care needs of new and existing residents.
• Administer prescribed medication and document all actions according to company policy.
• Maintain accurate records and provide clear handover reports at each shift change.
• Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team.
• Support health and safety by reporting incidents, hazards, and ensuring compliance with emergency procedures.

Required profile

• Qualified Registered Nurse registered with An Bord Altranais.
• Full clean manual driving licence (essential for community appointments).
• Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Genuine interest in working with the intellectual disability client group.
• Team‑player attitude.
• Desirable: experience or qualification in care for this client category, knowledge of HIQA standards, and previous supervisory experience.
