Volunteer Trustee with Legal Experience

About the role

Development Perspectives, a growing nonprofit based in Drogheda, is seeking a volunteer trustee with legal experience to join its board. The role supports sound decision‑making by ensuring governance structures consider relevant legal dimensions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to the board on matters that arise.
• Review and advise on governance policies, contracts and compliance issues.
• Support sub‑committees by offering legal perspectives during their bi‑annual meetings.
• Attend quarterly board meetings (one in‑person meeting per year) and two sub‑committee meetings each year.
• Help identify and mitigate legal risks affecting the organisation.

Required profile

• Qualified legal professional or solicitor with experience in corporate or charity law.
• Understanding of nonprofit governance and regulatory frameworks.
• Commitment to a volunteer role and ability to attend scheduled meetings.

Required skills

• Legal research and analysis.
• Knowledge of corporate/charity law.
• Governance compliance expertise.
