Android Developer – Embedded POS & Payment Solutions

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Android Developer to join a leading fintech client in Dublin. The role focuses on building and modernising secure payment applications for POS and payment terminal devices, working with both Java and Kotlin on embedded and AOSP‑based platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Android applications for POS/payment terminals using Java and Kotlin.
• Integrate device SDKs, PAX terminals, EMV readers, PIN pads, NFC/contactless modules, printers and other peripherals.
• Manage payment certification activities with Visa, Mastercard, American Express and other card schemes.
• Refactor legacy payment code, adopt modular architectures and ensure backward compatibility.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, regression automation and device‑farm orchestration.
• Debug hardware communications (serial, USB, Bluetooth, NFC) and provide production support, performance optimisation and incident resolution.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders in a regulated fintech environment.

Required profile

• 7+ years of Android development experience, preferably on embedded or AOSP‑based POS devices.
• Hands‑on experience with POS device SDKs and hardware integrations, especially PAX terminals.
• Deep knowledge of EMV transaction lifecycle, contactless/NFC processing, payment authorisation, settlement and offline handling.
• Familiarity with PCI, PCI‑PTS, EMV kernel standards and secure key management/HSM.
• Proven ability to work in large‑scale enterprise or regulated financial services settings.
