Associate Professor – Computing Systems

About the role

UNSW’s School of Computer Science and Engineering is seeking an Associate Professor in Systems to lead research and teaching in modern computing systems. The role combines high‑impact research with curriculum development and mentorship of graduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead a research programme in operating systems, distributed systems, systems security or machine‑learning systems.
• Secure competitive research funding and manage research projects.
• Supervise higher degree research students to successful completion.
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and contribute to curriculum design.
• Engage with industry partners and contribute to the School’s strategic direction.

Required profile

• Established academic with a strong record of high‑impact publications in computing systems.
• National or international reputation in the field.
• Proven ability to obtain research funding.
• Experience in supervising graduate students.
• Demonstrated leadership in academic governance or program development.

• Level D salary AUD $185,917 – $204,218 per annum plus 17 % superannuation.
