Audit Associate / Accounting Technician – Entry Level

About the role

We are looking for an entry‑level Audit Associate / Accounting Technician to join EY’s Audit team in Waterford. This position offers a structured learning environment where you will develop core audit and assurance skills while supporting senior staff on client engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering audit engagements following EY methodology and professional standards.
• Perform audit procedures on key financial statement areas and document findings.
• Prepare audit working papers and ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Support walkthroughs and testing of internal controls.
• Collaborate with client finance teams to obtain audit evidence.
• Use audit tools and Microsoft Excel to execute and record procedures.
• Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver them accurately and on time.

Required profile

• Qualified or finalist Accounting Technician qualification, or equivalent accounting experience.
• Strong attention to detail and an organised approach to work.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Willingness to learn and accept constructive feedback.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Previous experience in audit, accounting or a finance function is desirable.
• Familiarity with financial statements prepared under FRS 102 or IFRS is a plus.
