Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM1) – Dublin South

About the role

The Clinical Nurse Manager 1 (CNM1) provides clinical leadership and supervision on a busy medical ward in Dublin South. Working closely with the CNM2, the role ensures high‑quality, patient‑centred care and smooth daily operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate, assess, plan, implement and review nursing care for patients.
• Deliver safe, comprehensive nursing care in line with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland Code of Professional Conduct.
• Manage daily ward functions in the absence of CNM2, overseeing safe delivery of nursing services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with other healthcare facilities to enhance service delivery.
• Monitor, investigate and resolve nursing and clinical complaints, implementing corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate nursing records according to professional standards.
• Facilitate effective communication with patients, families, visitors and the multidisciplinary team while protecting confidentiality.
• Collaborate with consultants, other CNMs and hospital staff to ensure efficient department management.
• Review and report on annual nursing services and critical incident preparedness.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse on the NMBI Register.
• Minimum five years recent post‑registration nursing experience in an acute hospital, including at least two years in surgical nursing.
• Post‑registration nursing qualification (Higher Diploma or Post‑graduate course) in a relevant specialty or management.
• Willingness to hold an up‑to‑date ACLS certification.

Required skills

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) competency.
