Data Analyst & Power BI Developer (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

Our client, a leading financial services organisation, is looking for an experienced Data Analyst / Power BI Developer to enhance and deliver enterprise reporting and analytics solutions on a modern cloud‑based data platform. The role is a 6‑month contract with the possibility of extension, focusing on data analysis, reporting development, testing and business engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Gather and interpret business requirements and translate them into clear reporting and data specifications.
• Analyse, validate and reconcile datasets within a cloud‑based data warehouse using SQL.
• Develop and maintain interactive Power BI dashboards and reports to support business decision‑making.
• Support enhancement of data models, semantic layers and reporting calculations to improve self‑service analytics.
• Participate in system integration testing and user acceptance testing, including defect identification and resolution.
• Investigate and resolve day‑to‑day data and reporting issues in collaboration with technical and business teams.
• Contribute to data governance and data quality initiatives through controls, reconciliations and validation processes.
• Produce and maintain documentation such as report specifications, testing evidence and user support materials.
• Engage with stakeholders across business and technical teams to ensure solutions align with operational requirements.
• Assist in driving data adoption and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst or Reporting Analyst.
• Strong SQL expertise with the ability to analyse and validate complex datasets.
• Hands‑on experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Experience with cloud‑based data platforms such as Snowflake or similar technologies.
• Solid understanding of data modelling concepts and reporting best practices.
• Experience supporting testing activities, including UAT and system testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot reporting and data‑related issues in a business‑critical environment.
• Strong communication skills for working with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Experience in regulated or data‑intensive environments is advantageous.
