Director of Competition Adjudication

About the role

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is seeking a Director of Competition Adjudication on a 12‑month specified purpose contract. This senior position will lead the Competition Adjudication Unit during a period of significant change in Irish competition law enforcement.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day‑to‑day operation of the Competition Adjudication Unit.
• Report to a Member of the Commission on governance, HR and budget matters.
• Liaise directly with the Chief Adjudication Officer and Adjudication Officers on all matters referred under Part 2D of the Competition Act 2002.
• Provide strategic leadership and ensure the independence of adjudication functions.
• Manage resources, budgets and performance metrics for the Unit.
• Undertake additional projects or tasks within the CCPC as required.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in competition law and administrative enforcement.
• Proven senior management or director‑level experience in a public‑sector or regulatory environment.
• Strong strategic leadership and organisational skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage complex legal proceedings.
• Excellent communication skills for interaction with senior officials and stakeholders.
