Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join a specialist engineering business in County Monaghan. Reporting to senior leadership, you will combine core accounting duties with involvement in commercial and operational projects.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
• Oversee daily accounts payable and receivable activities.
• Manage payroll processes in partnership with external providers.
• Handle VAT returns and support budget, forecast and cash‑flow preparation.
• Assist with statutory reporting and liaise with external auditors at year‑end.
• Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements and internal controls.
• Provide financial insights to support decision‑making and participate in ad‑hoc finance projects.
• Communicate effectively across the organisation and identify opportunities to refine procedures.

Required profile

• Qualified or part‑qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting standards and practices.
• Previous experience in an engineering or similar industry is advantageous.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
